VIII III MMXXVI
I was a bit disappointed this morning because what I predicted happened: I didn’t have a lot of time to dedicate to the next chapter of my book. Hopefully I can do that on Wednesday.
As I said yesterday, I got my copy of Anna Brigadere’s autobiographical work, Triloģija, but it didn’t go smooth and that’s part of the reason why I missed out on my usual writing block.
I had a bad feeling after the call from the gentleman last Saturday. This morning too, as the time passed by, I kept thinking: “He’s going to show up at the agreed-upon location without agreeing upon a time for us to meet.”
As is so often the case, I’m a prophet of disaster, and that’s exactly what happened. I got a call from him exactly as I was about to put my coconut-almond cookies in the oven. As I predicted, the gentleman said that he was already at the location. I told him that I’d need 30 minutes to get there (by foot, it would be close to that). He wasn’t too happy but said that he’d wait for me.
Why didn’t I call him myself, you ask? First, because that option didn’t occur to me. lol Second, it probably didn’t occur to me because when he called me on Saturday, he said that he would call me on Monday. I assumed that he would let me know at what time he’d expect to be at the agreed-upon location. Next time I’ll call to clarify.
If it sounds like I’m annoyed by this, let me tell you, I’m not. I’m more amused that everything happened exactly as I foresaw it, down to the call coming in precisely when I needed to start baking the cookies.
Of course, I didn’t want to make the gentleman wait for 30 minutes as I madly dashed on my two feet to the location. I’d probably not survive that. I haven’t done a longer sprint in years. So, I downloaded one of those rental scooter apps, which I haven’t used in years. Thankfully, despite needing to press a lot of buttons to get them to allow me to rent one, I got it quickly done, and met with the gentleman eight minutes later. He was pleased.
So, all this to say that tomorrow I’l start reading Triloģija, as well as Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl, because today I finished Atomic Habits by James Clear. I read it in 5h33m. Insane. Reading on an indoor bike is truly a life hack.
Ah, yes, and the cookies came out perfect this time. 🥥 🍪 🤤
