VII XXIX MMXXVI
I have something to report today.
First, I managed to review and translate my sermon. I’m very happy with it. I don’t know how everyone else will feel about it, but I loved studying Genesis 29 and 30. I had to cut out so much from it to keep it close to 3,000 words (about 30 minutes). I think I have more than 9,000 with the cut content included (which I kept in a separate file).
I also made a PowerPoint slideshow. I used to be a great fan of using them during sermons, but in these last few years, I’ve preferred to stick to the “traditional” “Bible and voice” method. lol All the technology just tends to get in the way and distract.
Unfortunately, I feel that I don’t have a choice this time, as at the end of the sermon I will draw some parallels between different texts that are better understood if they can be visualized. Since I always write and read my sermons, I marked, in my notes, where the slides need to be changed, and asked the young gentleman responsible for the broadcast to read along with me and change them for me. Hopefully he’ll accept.
I also made a big overhaul to my task management system using Notes and Reminders. I have been relying on Reminders more for a long time, but I have been feeling the need to go back to my tried-and-true checklists on Notes, for the specific order of each task in a given day of the week. I’ll use Reminders for, well... tasks that I need to be reminded of because they aren’t part of my routine. I have a built-in redundancy system that infallibly forces me to check on both apps at the end of the day.
I’ve been feeling very in control of my time and tasks lately, and I love that. It’s not that I can’t be flexible. Today, my in-laws appeared at random to gift me some goodies from their garden, and I didn’t let it phase me. I just adapted today’s checklist as I went.
Anyway, it was a productive day. Now it’s time to rest.
